Colorful paint at the Gove Street Crossing | Waterfront Ambassadors Photo diary
The Mary Ellen Welch Greenway’s Gove Street Crossing got a fresh, colorful coat of paint, thanks to the Waterfront Ambassadors!
The Ambassadors had the opportunity to meet with Civic Space Collaborative Principal + Founder Michelle Moon the prior week and learn about the history of the open, green space. Touching up the design on the crossing in their fourth week of the summer program was a chance to return to the beautiful park. The group enjoyed painting the colorful design, and pitching in to help at the beloved public space.
After a trip to Georges Island, a 39-acre public space and part of the Boston Harbor Islands, the Ambassadors met many East Boston residents throughout the neighborhood to share information about upcoming free events and programs in the area. Some of these upcoming events include Sabores de Nuestra Cultura: Family Festival, Waterfront on Wheels, Waterfront Fitness Work Out, and several hands-on gardening events!

In 2022 this program will run for seven weeks in July and August and will incorporate a variety of job-readiness and other enrichment sessions in addition to community projects. This program is being supported for a third summer by presenting sponsor TD Bank through the TD Ready Commitment.
