Over the past several years The Trustees has advanced its Boston Waterfront Initiative, convening state and local support and establishing a visible leadership voice for a waterfront that is resilient, accessible to the public, and green. In addition to our participation in the City’s ongoing resilience and open space planning efforts, we continue to be an active contributor to the public dialogue regarding open space in the city. This conversation has gained strength and momentum, and the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of increased access to quality open space for all, as people increasingly seek outdoor spaces in which to exercise and socialize safely. The future of Boston’s waterfront will become one of the signature legacy projects for the City of Boston in the next decade, and the Boston Waterfront Initiative is a chance to develop and deliver world class projects that will in time be as significant as the historic Boston Common.
