Stewardship work and community outreach | Waterfront Ambassadors photo diary

During their second-to-last week of this year’s summer program, the Waterfront Ambassadors attended a youth coalition event hosted by the Boston Harbor Initiative (BHI). The event provided the Ambassadors with a chance to meet like-minded environmentally focused youth groups, and share their work and projects from throughout the summer. 

During the coalition event the Ambassadors distributed surveys as part of an ongoing outreach project to discover what the City’s youth would like to see at Piers Park III, including future programming and design elements. The Ambassadors also had the opportunity this week to work with Kannan Thiruvengadam, Director of Eastie Farm. The teens helped with weeding and transporting plants in Eastie Farm’s “The Secret Garden,” and painted a message to share with the public about climate change, greenhouse gases, and air pollution.

This week, the Waterfront Ambassadors participated in spreading knowledge! We had powerful experiences and were very grateful to participate in these activities. ~Angela

On Wednesday, we went to the BHI Youth Coalition Event. We informed the other four youth groups about Piers Park III and our work. We went to each group's table to learn about their work and participate in an activity to receive tickets for our scavenger hunt. ~Priya

On Wednesday, August 11th, the Trustees Waterfront Ambassadors went to an event. Some youth groups from the greater Boston area came together to share knowledge about what they’ve all been working on throughout the summer. We participated in scavenger hunts, a "what’s in the box" activity, crossword puzzles and more. ~Jeffrey

This week, we went to the BHI Youth Event where we all went on a boat to express what the different youth groups did over the summer. We spent our time here making sure people filled out our survey. ~Sergio

This week we attended the BHI (Boston Harbor Initiative) youth event where we met other youth groups and exchanged what we did over the summer. ~Gloriann

This is when we worked at Eastie Farm and we were cleaning up the area and moving plants. ~Kevin

On Monday, we went to the Secret Garden, part of Eastie Farm. Although it was muddy, we did a lot of hard work and painted to share a message with the public about climate change, greenhouse gases, and air pollution. ~Nailyn

This week, the Ambassadors went to Eastie Farm and did stewardship work. We weeded, cleaned up, transported plants and more. We also participated in an art project for the garden. ~Emily

One of the many pictures me and my co-workers took together to remember the good times (even though I was not happy about the heat on this BHI boat trip). ~Quin

This week, the Waterfront Ambassadors went on a boat and did more outreach to youth. On the boat, there were other programs like Save the Harbor Save the Bay, Green Ambassadors, etc. We went around table to table to see what the different types of programs do. ~Kayla
