Future programming at Piers Park III: Register now to join the conversation
Following several public meetings focused on design elements for the future Piers Park III, the next round of virtual discussions will gather ideas and feedback for future programming and activities at the East Boston waterfront park.
Registration is open now for these events, taking place on June 17, 23 and 30. Each will focus on a different area, or theme, of programming: Arts & Culture; Recreation; and Education and Climate, respectively.
“When you think of a park on the beautiful East Boston waterfront, how will you want to engage with it?” asks Nick Black, Trustees Managing Director of the Boston Waterfront Initiative. “As the community design process continues, this is a critical element for us to consider. Better understanding how people will want to use the park will help our design team choose the elements that should be incorporated into the landscape.”
The first design draft of Piers Park III was completed in March, incorporating community input from online surveys and public webinars. As input continues to come in through the survey and the upcoming June meetings the design will be revised, and again presented for public feedback.
Community engagement efforts will continue throughout 2021, including youth-specific outreach being conducted by the Waterfront Ambassadors this summer.
“We’re grateful for our local partners, who will help to co-lead the meetings in June including Veronica Robles Cultural Center, Piers Park Sailing Center, the East Boston YMCA, and Neighborhood of Affordable Housing, Inc.,” adds Black. “And we’re asking anyone with an interest in this future park to consider joining these conversations—tell us what activities you’d like to see on the East Boston waterfront!”
