The Trustees receives Universal Participant (UP) Designation
We are proud to announce that The Trustees has been named a Universal Participant (UP) Designated Organization by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). The Trustees received this designation as a result of completing the MCC’s Innovative Learning Network program in June. The UP Designation is a distinction awarded by Mass Cultural Council to organizations for their demonstrated commitment and engagement in exemplary inclusive practices.
UP Designated organizations are a growing cohort of leaders and innovators in the field who serve to inspire other organizations. They have demonstrated a commitment to learn, take action, and embrace inclusivity as a core organizational value and possess behaviors that reflect the aspirations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our UP Designation certifies that The Trustees:
Provides training about inclusive culture
Engages user/experts to inform decision making and to develop policies and programs
Coordinates and integrates a vision of inclusion throughout the entire organization
Innovates through creative problem solving
Core to the mission of The Trustees Boston Waterfront Initiative is a commitment to creating welcoming, accessible, and climate-resilient open space that serves diverse community needs. As the Piers Park III design phase progresses, we look forward to continuing to gather public input through an online survey and community meetings. The new survey, the second for Piers Park III, seeks opinions on different kinds of outdoor events, the timing of events, and any barriers people might see to being able to participate. Members of the public are encouraged to weigh in, and additional opportunities to provide feedback will be announced in the coming weeks.
We are excited about what this designation signals and to continue to expand our efforts to make our special places more physically accessible and welcoming for everyone.
